Fran Fraschilla, Doug Gottlieb to Host National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame Induction

November 1, 2017

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fran Fraschilla and Doug Gottlieb, two of college basketball’s most recognizable broadcasters, will serve as masters of ceremonies for the 2017 National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame Induction Celebration.

The induction celebration will take place on November 19 at 8 p.m. CT in Kansas City at the Arvest Bank Theater at the Midland. A special Hall of Fame Class of 2017 showcase will then be broadcast on February 22 at 5 p.m. CT on ESPNU.

As masters of ceremonies, Fraschilla and Gottlieb will discuss the legendary careers of the Hall of Fame Class of 2017 and conduct on-stage interviews with the inductees. The Class of 2017 features former players Tim Duncan (Wake Forest), the late Cleo Hill (Winston-Salem State), Scott May (Indiana), Rick Mount (Purdue), Paul Silas (Creighton), John Stockton (Gonzaga) and Jason “Jay” Williams (Duke), along with former Wisconsin, Milwaukee and Wisconsin-Platteville coach Bo Ryan.

“Fran Fraschilla and Doug Gottlieb are two of the leading voices in our game,” said Jim Haney, executive director of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and NABC Foundation, which oversees the Hall of Fame. “Their expertise spans both the current landscape of college basketball along with the storied history that the Hall of Fame celebrates. We’re thrilled to welcome them back to this year’s event.”

Fraschilla has been a college basketball game and studio analyst for ESPN since 2003. He serves primarily as an analyst for ESPN’s Big 12 men’s basketball coverage and has also called games on ESPN’s NIT broadcasts. Additionally, Fraschilla regularly offers his expert insight on college and international basketball on ESPN’s NBA Draft programming. Prior to joining ESPN, Fraschilla was the head men’s basketball coach at New Mexico, St. John’s and Manhattan.

Gottlieb, a former star point guard at Oklahoma State, is a college basketball analyst for Fox Sports and host of The Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio. Before joining Fox Sports in 2017, Gottlieb previously held television and radio roles with ESPN, CBS Sports and CBS Sports Radio, along with serving as a game and studio analyst on Turner and CBS’ joint coverage of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship.

Both Fraschilla and Gottlieb have served as masters of ceremonies at previous years’ Hall of Fame Induction Celebrations.

The National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame Induction Celebration will kick off the three-day Hall of Fame Weekend, a celebration of the game’s past and present. The induction celebration will be followed by the Hall of Fame Classic—featuring Baylor, Creighton, UCLA and Wisconsin—on November 21-22 at Sprint Center. Members of the Hall of Fame Class of 2017 will participate in a press conference at The College Basketball Experience on November 21 at 4:30 p.m. CT prior to tip-off of the Hall of Fame Classic.
