Premier Sports CEO Gary Heise Receives Cliff Wells Appreciation Award from the NABC

April 3, 2016

The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) presented the 2016 Cliff Wells Appreciation Award to Gary Heise, Chief Executive Officer of Premier Sports Management, at the AT&T NABC Guardians of the Game Awards Show at the 2016 Final Four in Houston, TX.

The award was presented by NABC Executive Director Jim Haney at the event, which honors coaches, players and executives for achievements in college basketball.

“The NABC Board of Directors had a vision to create a Hall of Fame for college basketball, but we needed someone to carry out that vision,” Haney said.  “Gary Heise and his team at Premier Sports has done that, and we are very appreciative of the work they have done to bring that vision to reality.”

Heise has helped the NABC with the strategic direction of the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame and its annual induction event from its inception. He and his staff have helped lead the Hall of Fame through its first decade, celebrating the 10th anniversary of inductions in November 2015.

“It’s been a pleasure to work alongside the NABC the past 10-plus years,” Heise said. “Building something from the ground up always invokes a special sense of connection, and we’re very proud of what the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame has become. Being presented with this award from Jim Haney, whom I respect greatly, makes it even more meaningful.”

The National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame is housed within the world-class College Basketball Experience facility in Kansas City. The annual Induction Celebration has become a prestigious awards event featuring each year’s class of inductees and is televised on ESPNU. It’s part of Hall of Fame Weekend, which also includes the four-team CBE Hall of Fame Classic tournament at Sprint Center.

Premier Sports has worked with many prestigious sports organizations and corporate sponsors in America over the past 25 years. The company’s work ranges from the development and execution of marketing platforms to managing and producing major events to helping brands maximize their sports partnerships.

Heise, founding partner of Premier, is the 43rd recipient of the Cliff Wells Appreciation Award. Previous honorees include former NCAA Presidents Dick Schultz and Myles Brand, broadcasters Dick Enberg and Billy Packer, executives Jim Host and George Raveling, among others.
