Senior marketing executive named chief marketing officer for Premier Sports Management

OVERLAND PARK, KS (August 14, 2012) – Mike Goff, a branding and partnership marketing expert who oversaw a top U.S. brand at Sprint Nextel, has been named Chief Marketing Officer at Premier Sports Management, a Kansas City-based sports marketing agency.

Goff has been recognized as one of the leading sports marketers in the country, including past recognition on The Sporting News list of “100 Most Powerful People in Sports.”

As Vice President, Corporate Marketing at Sprint, Goff led the branding and launch efforts of the merged Sprint and Nextel brands in 2005. He also guided the integrated “Now” positioning campaign across all marketing communications mediums, winning several major honors in the field of advertising.  Most recently, he was intimately involved in the 2011 product launch of the Sprint iPhone.

Goff created the original strategic plan and implementation plan for Sprint’s sponsorship marketing, with properties that included the NFL, NASCAR, PGA Tour, NCAA, World Cup Soccer, and the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association. He also negotiated the naming rights agreement for the Sprint Center in downtown Kansas City.

During his tenure at Sprint, Goff played a key role in several high-profile sponsorship arrangements, including the re-¬branding of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, moving from the former title sponsor to the Sprint-¬branded series, which continues today. This was a significant branding shift given that NASCAR fans have the highest fan avidity of any sport, whether professional or collegiate.

At Premier Sports, Goff will oversee all marketing and branding for the company and its clients as well as leading the firm’s initiatives in bringing together properties and brands into successful marketing partnerships.
